Quick Start
Go from sign-in to your first AI-answered call in four steps.
This guide takes you from a fresh sign-in to an AI agent answering a real phone call.
1. Sign in and pick your organization
HUM uses your BlueHive account. After signing in for the first time you'll be guided through creating an organization (or joining one you've been invited to). Everything you do in HUM — numbers, calls, agents, billing — is scoped to the current organization. If you belong to several, switch from the user menu.
2. Create an AI agent
Go to AI Agents and create your first agent. The essentials:
- Name — a label your team will recognize (e.g. "Main line intake").
- Greeting — the first thing callers hear.
- Instructions (system prompt) — tell the agent its job: what to collect, what it can promise, when to transfer, and the tone to use.
- Voicemail — leave enabled so after-hours or overflow callers can leave a message.
You can refine transfers, business hours, and tools later — see AI Agents.
3. Assign a phone number
Go to Numbers and either provision a new number or assign an existing one. Point the number's inbound routing at the agent you created. From that moment, calls to the number are answered by your AI agent. See Phone Numbers for porting and advanced routing.
4. Make a test call and review it
Call the number yourself. Then open Calls — your call appears with:
- the full transcript, speaker by speaker,
- the recording player,
- an AI summary with key points and next actions,
- any tools the agent used.
Tweak the agent's instructions and call again — iteration is fast and safe. When you're happy, share the number.
Where to go next
- AI Agents — prompts, transfers, business hours, tools.
- SMS Platform — turn on two-way texting.
- Contacts — build your address book.
- Webhooks — push call events into your own systems.
